Basic Door Pack Contents

The contents of a basic door pack are always very similar regardless of the system they come with. A basic door pack comes with wheels (particular to the chosen system), track stops and a simple floor guide. For sliding glass systems door packs will also come with the clamps used to fix the glass to the system, these systems also come with slightly different floor guides to timber sliding systems.

Choosing the Right Door for your Sliding System.

Choosing the right door for your sliding system. Image of a sliding system called SAHECO SF-44

When purchasing a sliding system, it is important to choose the right door for your chosen system and ensure that any dimensional and weight restrictions are not exceeded. We have written this blog about choosing the right door for your sliding system.

Weight Restrictions

One of the most important things when choosing your door is to ensure that the weight of your door does not exceed the weight limit of your chosen sliding door kit. All weight restrictions are listed on our website in the descriptions, they show the maximum weight which your door should be. For example, the SAHECO Excellence 60 soft close is suitable for doors between 25kg and 60kg in weight, this means your door should weigh more than 25kg, and less than 60kg.

Sliding Door Problems and Solutions

In this blog we will be looking at some of the most common sliding door problems and solutions, which we often get questions about.

Why is my Sliding Door Rattling?

One common problem we get asked about a lot is when sliding doors rattle or swing about at the bottom. The first thing to do about this issue is to check that you have a floor guide, a lot of times we are asked about this problem it’s because a floor guide hasn’t been fitted, or if a floor guide is fitted, the floor guide being used may be damaged. Floor guides are cut in to the bottom of the door and they essentially hold the door in place whilst it slides. For more information on floor guides we have a separate blog on this which you can find here or a YouTube video here. Should this be the problem, we sell a range of floor guides as spares on our website here, you will just need to ensure you choose the right one for your kit.

Sliding Systems – FAQ’S

In this blog we will be answering some of our most frequently asked questions, all to do with our sliding systems and related products.

Can I Cut my Track?

Almost all our track systems are designed to be cut down to the right length for your door. Some kits do have minimum and maximum door sizes, so the track can only be cut down to anything within the given range, for example the Excellence 60 Soft close. The one system we stock where the track cannot be cut down at all is the iMpero slide kit, however the rest of our tracks can all be cut down to fit your door.

Are your Kits Fire Rated?

At Doorstuff, we only sell one completely fire rated kit, the iMpero FD30 pocket door kit. This kit is available for both single and double doors, and comes with the track, runners, brackets, stops, the intumescent fire seals, pre-cut and formed plasterboard sections and a cassette.

What’s on the Floor – Sliding Systems and Floor Guides

When it comes to ordering sliding door kits, we have found most people are confused about what guides the door at the bottom.  Common questions are “Is there a full-length track?” or “Does the door flap about?” In this blog we will be covering some of the questions we are commonly asked.

All our kits come with some form of floor guide, the most common being a ‘blade’ or a ‘shark’s fin’ floor guide.

Blade Floor Guides

A blade floor guide is a small blade around 40mm long, these sit on the floor just next to the skirting board or just inside the pocket (for pocket doors) and they guide the door as it moves. This guide does require a grove to be cut into the bottom of the door, however it does allow for a clear threshold with no obstructions. Because of how this system works, being that the door must always be over the floor guide, the doors movement is limited to its own width only, moving any further would mean that the door would come off the floor guide and flap around. You can also add a guide protector to the door to extend the life of the guide and make the sliding smoother.

We also offer a rattle proof guide, which are an updated version of this system, needing either a plastic or metal guide protector channel. This roller system allows a smoother slide whilst also stopping the door rattling.
