When purchasing a sliding system, it is important to choose the right door for your chosen system and ensure that any dimensional and weight restrictions are not exceeded. We have written this blog about choosing the right door for your sliding system.
Weight Restrictions
One of the most important things when choosing your door is to ensure that the weight of your door does not exceed the weight limit of your chosen sliding door kit. All weight restrictions are listed on our website in the descriptions, they show the maximum weight which your door should be. For example, the SAHECO Excellence 60 soft close is suitable for doors between 25kg and 60kg in weight, this means your door should weigh more than 25kg, and less than 60kg.
Dimensional Restrictions
The most common dimensional restrictions for door kits are the door thickness, which is usually a range, for example the SAHECO STAR 90 kit should have a door thickness of between 25mm-60mm. Some of our systems also have door size restrictions, such as the HAFELE Slido Design system, which requires doors to be anywhere from 800mm to 1800mm. Pocket door kits also have door width and height restrictions, so be sure to check those before purchasing a door for a pocket system.
Choosing the Materials
Materials are also an important factor when choosing your doors, for example if you have a sliding system for frameless glass, you will need to ensure that your doors are made of frameless glass and not an acrylic alternative, because the clamps could cause acrylic to shatter. Another important thing to note is that MDF or Plywood doors are not recommended for anything other than a wardrobe system. This is because the edge of the MDF and Plywood does not hold screws and most sliding systems we sell screw into the edge of the door.
