Types of Telescopic Sliding Systems

In this blog we will be looking at the different types of telescopic sliding systems and their differences. There are 3 main types of telescopic sliding systems that we sell; Simple telescopic, progressive telescopic and telescopic pocket door kits.

Simple Telescopic Systems

Simple telescopic systems are a cheaper option compared to other telescopic systems. Unlike progressive telescopic systems, simple telescopic systems do not come with a belt system. These systems work by having bumper connectors from one door to the next. As you move one door, the bumpers connect so that the second door follows the first. A system like this is not as smooth as a progressive system, though the sliding system itself is still quiet, you may notice that the doors bump together. The SAHECO Excellence Telescopic System is an example of this.

Progressive Telescopic Systems

Progressive telescopic systems offer a more modern and sleeker look, allowing all doors to move together simultaneously to an open or closed position. Progressive telescopic systems use a belt drive system on top of the doors which moves the doors in harmony. For 3 door systems, two belts are used to join all 3 doors together. An example of this system is the SAHECO SF-A81.

Telescopic Pocket Systems

Telescopic pocket doors work in the same way as a progressive system, the difference being that all doors will end up in a pocket on either side of the door, rather than the doors being visible when they are open. The iMpero telescopic pocket door kit is an example of this, and it links both doors with a belt drive. Telescopic pocket systems also require a thicker wall, with a standard wall thickness of 125mm, telescopic systems require the wall to be 177mm thick, this is to enable both doors to fit inside the pocket.
