Automatic sliding doors are everywhere, you find them in shops, hospitals, leisure centres, and many more places. These are not the kind of automatic doors we supply as there are certain standards and regulations to be met when it comes to doors in commercial buildings. However we can supply low energy automatic sliding doors for domestic properties, which we will be looking at in this blog.
Low Energy Automatic Systems
Low energy refers to the movement energy contained in the door, as the door moves very slowly, which can take up to 8 seconds to open. This means the normal safety systems with barriers and sensors which are often seen on commercial buildings, are not required. This also means that should the door hit someone, they shouldn’t be knocked over because of the low force, doors can be programmed to either stop or back away when contact occurs.
Low energy automatic sliding systems are perfect for domestic properties, they can be used with either frameless glass or timber, depending on your preferences.
EVOLVE 80 System
Our first system, the EVOLVE 80, is weight rated up to 80kgs for all doors in total, the system is available for both double and single doors. Double door kits are designed to automatically slide away from each other in a bi-parting motion. The EVOLVE system is rated in accordance with European Machine Directive 2006/42/CE for low energy operation, with an opening/closing speed of up to 0.3 metres per second. The track is made of aluminium and can be easily cut down to the right length, tracks are supplied in either 2000mm or 4000mm.
There are also optional extras for this system, including a remote-control kit or radar motion sensors, which detect motion so that the doors can slide open automatically (these are available in white, black and aluminium.)
GEZE Perlan 140 AUT-NT
Our second system, the GEZE Perlan 140 automatic sliding gear, is rated for up to 80kgs per door, meaning double door systems can have a combined door weight of 160kg. Tracks are supplied in 1650mm, 2050mm, 2450mm and 3250mm, but all tracks can easily be cut down to your desired length. The Perlan automatic system is designed in accordance with DIN 18650 for low energy operation, it has an opening/closing speed of up to 0.3 metres a second.
The system is designed with a ‘Push&go’ motion, meaning with a gentle push of the door leaf, the motion is enabled, and the doors will slide automatically. Operation noise is minimised due to gentle operation, so the system is quiet. With various operating modes, for example, the “dead man’s switch”, “permanently open” or automatic closing with a set hold-open time of 0-30 seconds, this enables the system to be adapted to suit the needs of the user.
