In todays blog we will be looking at sliding door brackets and what they are used for.

What are Sliding Door Brackets Used for?

Sliding door brackets are used when you want to use thinner materials such as MDF and Plywood as doors on standard aluminium sliding systems.

Using materials like plywood or MDF means that the hanger bracket cannot be screwed into the top of the door, because the materials are too thin, and the screws will not hold. By using a sliding door bracket, this allows you to mount the bracket to the door, as it screws into the back of the door rather than the top, which then attaches to the sliding systems track.

Different Sliding Door Brackets

At Doorstuff, we sell two different sliding door mounting brackets, both with different weight limits.

The 4059 sliding door bracket is made of a zinc plated steel and is suitable for doors 12mm-35mm in thickness, with a maximum weight of 30kgs. It can be used on many of our systems, such as the SAHECO SF-44, SF-A61, SF Roller and GEZE Perlan 140 sliding door gear. The bracket can also be used where there are height restrictions, as it allows for a reduced gap between the track and the door. The 4059 door brackets are supplied in pairs.

The 6062 Sliding door bracket is a plastic material, suitable for doors between 18mm-45mm thick with a maximum weight of 60kgs. This sliding door bracket can also act as a low headroom bracket, as it brings the door right up to the bottom of the track, where the distance from bottom of track to top of door can be within 5mm. These door brackets are also supplied in pairs.

Advantages and Disadvantages

The obvious advantage of using sliding door brackets is that they allow you to us thinner materials as doors on standard sliding systems. One disadvantage is that the brackets are visible on the back edge of the door, so one side of the door will look neat and the other side will have the brackets on show, which may not be an issue if the door is being used for a room that isn’t accessed, for example wardrobe or storage cupboard doors.
