Doorstuff’s Eco-Friendly Packaging!

At Doorstuff, we are committed to reducing any negative impact on the environment that we can and we’re always on the look-out for further ways to improve our eco-friendly status. One way we do this is by using renewable energy from our solar panels to help power the office and warehouse. However, one of our other primary ways of being environmentally conscious is in our shipping packaging with which we stick to the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Repair mantra.

Reduce: We make sure to use appropriate sizes of bags and boxes to reduce unused and unnecessary packaging. By doing this we also reduce the amount of extra packaging material like bubble wrap that we need to use to secure the product. We are also phasing out plastic bubble wrap in favour of UK sourced 100% recycled paper bubble wrap, which is just as effective at a much lower cost to the environment. Our cardboard tubes for the sliding door tracks are also made in a chemical-free process with water-based glue to reduce the negative effects of manufacturing.

Re-Use: We often re-use packaging made of metal, plastic, or wood instead of sending these items to the landfill. You may see that a parcel delivered to you is covered in non-Doorstuff branding, this is because we reuse boxes sent to us by manufacturers to reduce our waste and carbon footprint. We also use our general paper shredding (i.e. no paper with sensitive information) for padding inside parcels.

Recycle: Doorstuff is working with Devon Contract Waste who send Zero to Landfill and recycle anything we do have to throw away. In our canteen, milk is delivered in glass bottles by the milkman, which has the additional benefit of supporting local businesses.

Repair: At Doorstuff, we never want to sell a customer something that isn’t right for them or that they don’t need. We keep a large range of spare parts for any wardrobe systems and other door hardware in the hopes that, when appropriate, we can help a customer repair their hardware without having to replace the whole unit. This not only saves money for the customer but also helps the environment by reducing waste.
