Are You Specifying The Correct Hinge Material For Your Location?

These Royde & Tucker mild steel chrome plated hinges are only three years old and have been used in an external inland location on patio doors. You can see they are a projection hinge which throw the doors open past the walls. The picture shows that the chrome plating is being pushed off the mild steel which is rusting underneath. If the door supplier had specified these Royde & Tucker H102-B Hi-Load Hinges in Polished Stainless Steel, (which the homeowner has now ordered) this problem would never have occured. Needless to say stainless steel hinges come with stainless steel screws (instead of mild steel plated ones) which eliminate the risk of rusting and have a 25 year maintenance free guarantee.
